AKAI has managed to continue the legacy of the MPC drum machine used by such legendary hip hop producers such as Kanye West, Just Blaze, and DJ Shadow. After nearly 20 years of evolution the AKAI MPC series has matured and now the world's first truly portable all-in-one Music Production Center, the AKAI MPC500 has emerged. The MPC500 combines a 48-Track MIDI Sequencer and a 32-voice Stereo Digital Sampler, with 12 velocity and pressure sensitive rubber pads. For true portability, the MPC500 can be powered using 6 AA batteries affording artists the ability to sample and create music on-the-go.
The LCD screen is smaller in size which might be a change for the seasoned MPC user. However after spending sometime with navigation the programming features are easily accessible. All the standard connections are present, including a ¼-inch headphone output, ¼-inch stereo output, ¼-inch stereo input, USB connection, backlight switch, power adapter and MIDI I/O for use with external MIDI gear. Effects include 2 stereo effects and a Master effect. Effect Types include: Chorus, Flanger, Bit grunger, 4 band EQ, Compressor, Phase shifter, Tremolo, Flying pan, Reverb and Delay. Master Effects include: 4 band EQ and Compressor. A Q-link slider is provided which can act as a fader for automation for the filter, tune and level functions.
Both PC and Mac computers can communicate with the MPC500 via its built–in USB port. To transfer data simply drag & drop between the computer and the MPC500's Compact Flash card. The unit has a compact flash slot that supports Type I and II Compact Flash up to 2GB. The memory can be upgraded with the EXM128 memory expansion for increased sampling time. The MPC500 can be powered with 6 AA batteries when on the road or the included DC power adapter when in the studio.
The MPC500 is compatible with other MPC units which make editing, sequencing, and sampling between machines effortlessly. The AKAI MPC500 is the most cost effective, convenient and portable way to get into professional sampling and beatmaking. Style, Flexibility and Portability - The AKAI MPC500 is the perfect fit for your mobile lifestyle.
