I AM NEW TO EBAY. I HAVE BEEN BUYING AND SELLING FOR ABOUT NINE MONTHS NOW. IT HAS BEEN SO ENJOYABLE FOR ME; AND I HOPE TO CONTINUE ON FOR MANY MORE YEARS.
FOR THE MOST PART, THE GREATER MAJORITY OF FELLOW EBAYERS HAVE BEEN SO WONDERFUL. THERE ARE SOME THOUGH, THAT COULD PERHAPS USE A LESSON IN COMMON KINDNESS AND MANNERS.
NOT ONLY DO I SELL A LOT OF ITEMS ON EBAY, I PURCHASE QUITE A BIT TOO.
SOME OF THE MERCHANDISE I HAVE HAD SHIPPED TO ME WAS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. IT WAS NOT BECAUSE IT WAS A BAD PRODUCT; IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE SELLER SHIPPED THE ITEM. HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF WHAT WENT WRONG DURING TRANSIT:
1. I PURCHASED A CHILDS TEA SET...REALLY CUTE! THE SELLER DID NOT WRAP THE CHINA SEPERATELY. THEY PUT THE WHOLE SET IN A GROCERY BAG, INSIDE OF A BOX, AND SHIPPED IT TO ME. OF COURSE WHEN IT ARRIVED, IT WAS ALL SMASHED. THE BUYER BLAMED THE POST OFFICE AND TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT INSURANCE. THEY USED THE INSURANCE PURCHASE AS THEIR EXCUSE FOR EXTREMELY POOR PACKAGING TECHNIQUES. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME A REFUND...AND WERE VERY MEAN IN THEIR E-MAILS TO ME. I FELT LIKE SINCE THEY RECEIVED THEIR PAYMENT QUICKLY THROUGH PAYPAL, THEY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT ME ANYMORE. THEY LOST A VALUABLE CUSTOMER!
2. I PURCHASED AN ADORABLE CEREAL PREMIUM. THE TOY CHARACTER WAS MADE OF A DURABLE WHITE VINYL. THE BUYER USED OLD NEWSPAPER WRAPPED AROUND THIS VINYL TOY AS CUSHIONING. WHEN I UNWRAPPED THE ITEM, THE WHITE VINYL WAS COMPLETELY STAINED WITH ALL OF THE BLACK PRINTERS INK FROM THE NEWSPAPER. THE SELLER WOULD NEVER ANSWER ANY OF MY E-MAILS...THEY LOST A VALUABLE CUSTOMER!
3. I HAVE PURCHASED ITEMS THAT WERE TOO LARGE FOR THE SIZE OF BOX THE SELLER USED. THEREFORE, I HAVE RECEIVED ITEMS THAT WERE BENT, CREASED & DAMAGED BECAUSE THE SELLER TRIED TO CRAM THE ITEM INTO A WRONG-SIZED BOX. THEY LOST A VALUABLE CUSTOMER!
4. I PURCHASED A CELLULOID TOY. THE BUBBLE WRAPPING WAS PULLED SO TIGHTLY AROUND THE PIECE, IT CRACKED. THEY LOST A VALUABLE CUSTOMER!
5. I HAVE PURCHASED PAPER ITEMS, I.E.: COMIC BOOKS, PAPER DOLLS, ETC. THE SELLER JUST PUT THEM IN AN ENVELOPE AND MAILED THEM. BY THE TIME I RECEIVED IT, IT WAS ALL BENT, FOLDED, AND RUINED. THEY LOST A VALUABLE CUSTOMER!
PLEASE FOLKS!...THE SALE IS NOT OVER WITH JUST BECAUSE YOU RECEIVED YOUR PAYMENT QUICKLY! PLEASE TRY TO REMEMBER THAT YOUR PACKAGING SKILLS ARE WHAT IS GOING TO INSURE THE ITEMS SAFE ARRIVAL.
IT IS SO VERY ANNOYING TO ME WHEN A SELLER USES THE PHRASE: WELL YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT INSURANCE! STOP BLAMING THE POST OFFICE AND SHIPPING COMPANIES FOR YOUR INCOMPETENCE...THAT IS A TOTAL LACK OF NOT BEING CAPABLE OF ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILTY FOR ONES OWN ACTIONS.
EBAY IS SUCH AN EXCITING WAY TO BUY AND SELL ITEMS! LET'S KEEP IT FUN...THE WAY IT WAS INTENDED TO BE! PLEASE PACKAGE YOUR ITEMS THAT WERE SOLD, IN THE SAME MANNER THAT YOU WOULD EXPECT TO RECEIVE THEM IN.
