A guide to silver pricing. Buying Silver from Kitco
Final Price = Silver Spot per oz + Premium + Courier & Insurance + tax + etc
Premium per oz
USD4/- for Silver Maple, Silver Eagle,
USD2 - 2.5/= for Silver Phils
This premium was imposed by many vendor since Sept 2008.
Fedex Courier Charges + Insurance:
Min Charges: USD135/- for International. Bear in mind that the shipment is sent from Canada and not from USA.
Average courier cost per oz
USD2/- oz for 100 oz
USD1.5/= oz for 300 oz
USD1.2/= oz for 500 oz
Delivery time : 2 – 3 months from the day you pay.
Insurance : USD 24/= for every USD1000/- of silver value
Custom exercise duty and sales tax :
15.5% of the Invoice Value + Freight + Insurance
Kitco and Fedex will declare everything black and white. With all the custom code etc.
Others:
Time, Petrol Foreign Exchange Loss due to TT, TT Charges RM30 – RM40/-
Min order 60 oz. Most of the time, it is not available. If it is available, it is only ship to USA only.
They don’t need to sell to you, since they cannot even fulfill the demand in USA.
Example,
Spot = USD14/-, Premium USD4/=, 100 oz
(14 + 4 + 2 ) = USD20/- per oz
USD 20 x 100 oz x 3.6 (exchange rate) = RM7,200/=
Other expenses
TT = RM40/-, Petrol = RM20/=, Forex Loss = RM100/= , interest for 2 months (RM7200 x 3% x 2 month/12 months : more if you have housing loan etc)
Total other expenses = RM250/-
If no tax (lucky)
Your cost if didn’t kena tax (super lucky, pray hard). RM7200 + RM250 = RM7450
This will be your unit cost, RM74.5.
if Kena (Got) Tax
If you kena tax (Most of the time for big order), RM7200 x 1.155 = RM8316/=
Total cost = RM8316 + RM250 = RM8566/=
Your unit cost will be RM85.66 cent. Anything lower than that is selling without the option of replacing it. Which also means once sold it is sold and there is nothing left to replace it unless the silver price dropped again? You have to assess how likely is this going to happen. Once, the sales objective is achieved, future sales will only be done when price is high enough.
Then this does not include you business cost to sell it to other users.
Then you need to protect the coin especially those very shining one because it get tarnished very quickly otherwise customer don’t want to buy it. They’ll give you a negative ebay feedback, just because of the nature process of silver tarnishing. So add another RM2/= on each coin for air-tite capsule. Some of the coins will remain in tube (unopened).
Until now. CU. Thanks for reading.
If you want to order, order something I don;t have. Then I will be more than willing to exchange with you if the your exchange rate is OK. You can view what I have from my selling list.
