This guide has been put together to help keep kid safe while helping them enjoy the great world of anime. As a parent this is a very important issue for myself as well. I also love anime but many adults do not know much about the topic. Anime or Japanamation is originally from Japan. the art form it self is from goes all the way back before WWII believe it or not. Most people that have not had much contact with anime think its just a cartoon and it all must be for children. This is VERY wrong and can be quite dangerous. Anime covers more than just Pokemon and other cute and fuzzy critters. There are other forms such as Hentai and Yaoi these are both very adult subjects and should not be viewed by minors. Hentai with out going in to to much detail would fall in to the categorieas Adult magazines fall into . Hide it behind the counter and you must be 18 or older to buy. Yaoi is much the same but same sex only. Not all are marked 18 and up but they should be. They can appear in the form of Doujinshi, Manga, DVD, VHS and other formates as well . Just like a video game or movie be sure to check the ratings and the synopsis to make sure what your children are getting is meant for kids. Please don't let this scare you as it is not meant to do so. Anime is a great art form but as with all art should only be  shown to the right age group.  Some anime  like Hellsing is really meant for age 14 and up and La blue girl is 18 and up while others like Digimon and Pokemon is more geared for 5 to 10 year olds. Don't let a name fool you, I have seen Digimon Yaoi as well as Pokemon Hentai. Check out what your kid wants to make sure it is what they are getting. If you are not sure try a search of your own under the same name , read many auctions and find out more about what it is your child may want. You may find that some of it is fine while other may not. Just keep in mind that it is the same as going to the video store you would not let your 5 year old rent a rated R film or your 10 year old rent a M rated game for Violence and Nudity would you. Just take your time and find out more. Give your child the gift of anime today!!
