So, your child is begging for a "Bob the Builder" toy, but you have no idea which truck is which? Never fear, here's your guide to Bob the Builder's world!

Let's tackle the people first...

Bob the Builder: he's the main character, who runs the building yard (in old seasons; in the new episodes, he is the one who's in charge of building a new town in Sunflower Valley.

Wendy: Bob's business partner and best friend.

Farmer Pickles: In the older episodes, he is the local farmer. In the new season, he is building a sunflower farm in Sunflower Valley.

JJ: JJ runs the supply yard in Bobsville where Bob gets everything he needs.

Molly: JJ's daughter

"Bob's  dad" (Robert) and "Bob's mom": Everyone refers to them as Bob's dad and Bob's mom. Obviously, these are Bob's parents! Robert was the builder who built Bobsville, and taught Bob everything he knows about being a builder. They came out of retirement to run the building yard in Bobsville when Bob won the Sunflower Valley competition.

Other incidental characters: Mr. and Mrs. Bentley, Marjorie, Mr. Beasley, Mrs. Potts, "Sandy" Beach...there are actually quite a few others, but they're probably not going to come up.

Machines...

Scoop: He's the Backhoe Loader Digger. He's yellow, and the leader of Bob's team. Scoop starts off nearly every job by yelling "Can we build it?" and everyone shouts back "Yes, we can!"

Muck: She's a Digger-Dumper. She's orangish-red, and loves to get Mucky! Her catchphrase is "Muck to the rescue!"

Dizzy: She's a cement mixer. She's orange, and loves to play soccer. "I'm whizzy dizzy!"

Roley: He's the steamroller. Roley is green. Roley loves music, and often makes up songs. "Rock and Roll!"

Lofty: Lofty is the mobile crane. He is very shy and nervous- scared of just about everything. He's blue. After everyone yells "Yes, we can!" (see Scoop's discription), Lofty always yes "Uh, yeah, I think so."

Travis: Travis is Farmer Pickles' tractor. He's light blue.

Sumsy: Sumsy is a red Forklift. She was hired by Farmer Pickles to help set up his sunflower factory.

Trix: Trix is JJ's forklift. She's purple.

Skip: Skip is JJ's truck. He hauls around a dumpster and dawdles a lot. He's yellow and light green.

Jackaroo: Jackaroo is a new character in the film "Built to Be Wild." The movie was in theaters (I believe) in Britain, and was released on dvd in the US in September, '06. Jackaroo is blue.

Miscellaneous characters:

Pilchard: Pilchard is Bob's cat.

Spud: Spud is Farmer Pickles' scarecrow, who is always causing problems.

Scrufty: Farmer Pickles' dog
