A Primer for Applying Face Cream by lili-funk

There is a correct way to apply facial creams and anti-aging lotions.  For those of us who were never taught or told how to do so, following is a simple primer.

Golden Rule Number 1:  Follow the individual drections of each product to a T.  Even if this sometimes requires digging out the old magnifying glass - follow the directions!  If it states not to use around the eye area  then don't even get it near those precious eyes!  There are creams specifically made for the eye area.  #Even then I would not apply any to my eyelids (see below).

Golden Rule Number 2: You are paying good money for your creams, lotions and potions so you might as well know that anything over the size of a nickel is a waste, unless your face is very very huge.

Golden Rule Number 3: A wise investment to make is purchase small disposable spatula's to dip your cream out.  The reason for this is because I don't care how clean you think your hands are there is bacteria on them that can enter into your cream when you stick your fingers into it - thus spoiling the cream's life and invading it with bacteria that you then transfer to your pretty face!

Now the nitty gritty easy as pie part:  Always in small circular upward motions massage your creams into your skin.  Be gentle with no tugging especially around the eye area where it is best to use your ring finger and dab into the skin gently.  The eye skin is the most delicate and your ring finger is the weakest.   #Also don't apply cream to your upper eyelids no matter if the cream allows it or not unless you wish puffy-dragon eyes in the morning.  If you've been doing this STOP and I promise you'll see an immediate improvement in your eye area.

If you have oily skin do not massage your creams too long or deeply as this causes more oils to surface and will cause your face to become even more oily.  Be careful not to over moisturize -- this can cause pore-clogging for all skin types.
