Ebay can be a daunting marketplace, but by following a few simple guidelines, you can be assured of a positive experience.  When you have decided to search for an item, type in a specific phrase, "panasonic lumix digital camera"  instead of "camera".  While both will give you results, the more defined your search criteria, the better your results will be.  If you don't get any results, you can broaden your search by eliminating some of the criteria.  Try "panasonic digital camera" instead.  Once you have your list of items up for auction, my personal preference is to start with the auctions ending soonest, as these will bring the quickest resolution.  Wherever you decide to begin your task, look at the item description carefully.  A detailed description of the item and it's condition, especially noting any imperfections is preferred.   Don't be afraid to ask the seller a question.  If something sounds like it might not be what you want, don't bid, just keep looking.  Look closely at the shipping costs, make sure of what you will be paying before you bid.  Examine the seller's feedback rating carefully.  See exactly what problems were encountered in the transaction, if possible, and the resolution of said problems, if they are stated.  A seller with 100% positive feedback is someone who obviously cares about their customers.  I usually ignore neutral or negative feedback if it involved the buyer not paying attention to the item description, or slow transit times, as these are not the seller's fault most of the time.  Once you decide on an item, place your bid.  Its usually a good idea to set your price limit in your head before you begin your search.   Buyer's remorse often comes from falling in love with an item, and bidding far more than originally intended.  It's not the seller's fault if someone spends far more than anticipated simply because he had to have the item.  Once the auction is over, pay promptly, as all seller's appreciate this gesture.  Waiting to pay simply delays your item from being shipped, and causes the seller to doubt your intentions to actually pay for your purchase.  Be patient as you await your item, sometimes shipping companies have unforseen delays.  Once the item is received, check it over and make sure it is as described and functional.  Lastly, leave the seller feedback.  Feedback is an important part of the process, as it shows others how the seller has dealt with customers in the past.  By leaving feedback, you provide other buyers the opportunity to see how your transaction went and if you are pleased with your purchase.  Following these simple suggestions will help ensure you have a positive Ebay experience, and even help provide one for future buyers.
