What are primitives?  Primitives are pieces with character-distressed, age-worn, not in "mint condition." Pieces reminiscent of earlier times.  You will not find perfection in Primitives, but you get a sense of history-how life was long ago.

Primitive Dolls are dolls made with no rules-there is no way to mass produce a handmade Primitive doll.  Makers of Primitive dolls use their imagination to create a doll that could have been made by a pioneer woman for her daughter to play with.  Each doll is unique-it is impossible to create a primitive doll that is exactly alike.   

This is what is so special about Primitive pieces-whether it is a doll, a toy, a bowl, a piece of furniture, a hooked rug, a sampler,  or a quilt.  When you look at these pieces, you are transported to a place in time when life was simpler.  You can find many artists on Ebay who make Primitive dolls and other pieces.
