A Guide to Learning How to Bid.
I have decided to once again try and share my experiences
on EBay. Today I have decided to talk about bidding.
After you have decided that you need something and you
have found it on EBay what do you do now? Should you
instantly place a bid? Does it have a buy it now option?
Should you wait until the near end? What should you do?
Buy it Now:
The first and obvious solution to your problem is to hit
the buy it now button. You are guaranteed to get that
special item that you have been looking for. If you need
that last card for your set or if this is a long sought after
movie then get it! You might pay a premium for an item
but if you have been looking for it for a long time then
it'll be worth it.
Bidding:
The next interesting thing is bidding. If you find an item
that has just started to you place a bid right away, or should
you wait?
My experiences show that if you place the item on your watch list
then you can wait and see what happens. Know what you want to
spend and then place a bid near the end of the auction. Jump
in with about 5 minutes left and remember to place your maximum
bid price. Then sit back and watch the auction end. This provides
you with the ability to re-bid if you need to.
My experience with selling and buying has shown me that people
tend to stick to "round" numbers when bidding. $1.50, $50, $2.25
and so forth. So I have found that by bidding with odd number
bids has brought me great success. I place a bid of $50.51 and
I tend to bump off people that think in rounds. By placing that
"odd ball" bid you tend to out think the majority of the bidders
who are out bidding against you!
Just remember to set your maximum and watch the end of the auction.
Good luck and hope this helps!
