A Guide to Nintendogs from Nintendo
Nintendogs for the Nintendo DS portable gaming system is a unique pet simulation video game. Unlike most games that have liner plots or puzzles to solve, Nintendogs allows gamers to play at their own pace, training a puppy just like in real life. Nintendogs is available in three different versions--Chihuahua and Friends, Dachshund and Friends and Labrador and Friends--each featuring different breeds of dog to play with.
Nintendogs is unique among portable games because it has voice recognition software that allows the virtual puppies to respond to their owner's voice. Using the built in microphone on the Nintendo DS, owners can train their dogs to follow basic commands like "sit," "stay," and "roll over." The dogs will only respond to their owner's voice.
One of the most popular aspects of Nintendogs is its interactive capabilities. Using the built-in Nintendo DS Wi-Fi system, owners can interact with other Nintendogs players. With Nintendogs loaded in the system, the Nintendo DS can be set to "bark mode." The Nintendo DS then searches over the Wi-Fi system to locate other nearby Nintendogs players. Nintendogs will then "bark" at one another, allowing the players to connect wirelessly and let their puppies play together.
The Nintendo DS and Nintendogs are available bundled together as the "Best Friends" package. The version of the Nintendogs game bundled in the "Best Friends" package is an exclusive game featuring the six most popular puppy breeds from the other versions. The "Best Friends" DS is available in Teal or Pink. The pink DS is slightly rarer, as it was originally an exclusive at Target and Toys R Us stores.
