A Guide to Duarte and Fashion
Henry Duarte has been called the king of rock and roll denim. His denim jeans were the style of choice for most serious rockers in the 1970s. Today, Duarte jeans are still coveted by superstars like Stephen Tyler of Aerosmith. Duarte's jeans are always evolving, but retain a classic, retro rock-and-roll look.
In 2002, Duarte opened his first boutique in Los Angeles. Customers are let in to shop for a pair of his custom fit jeans by appointment only. Some of Duarte's most loyal customers include Meg Ryan, Gwenyth Paltrow, and Gina Gershon. Customers looking to purchase a pair of Duarte jeans should beware that Duarte is one of the most copied designers out there. Because his old partners still own a business with the Duarte name, there are Duarte jeans which are not exactly knock-offs; however, only Duarte jeans officially signed by Henry are actually designed and made by him today, and these are quite rare indeed.
Every pair of true Duarte jeans is custom made. One of Duarte's trademark styles is lace up jeans. Leather ties along the leg or waist seal the owner into the tightest pair of jeans they'll ever own. Duarte is known to place leather around the cuffs to give the jeans an edgier look, as well.
Many of Duarte's pieces are a real departure from traditional jeans. Colorful stripes are one of Duarte's most famous trademarks. Non-traditional denim colors such as white, green, and red also make regular appearances in the Duarte line. The idea behind every pair of Duarte jeans is to make those who wear them look and feel like a genuine rock star.
