I am an Anthropologie-aholic.  I proclaim that with great pride and a very empty but fashionable pocketbook. Anyway, I recently started selling some of my purchases on eBay to fund more Anthropologie purchases, and in doing my research, I was disgusted with what I found:  sellers manipulating the search engines by including things like Anthropologie balm, shirts(which are cheapo camisoles) etc. which could easily fool an inexperienced buyer if they didn't read the entire ad.  So, I decided to write a little something to help all those Anthropologie-aholics out there.

First, if the Title includes Anthropologie balm, lipstick, card, cup, etc. proceed with caution.  It's a sure sign that the actual item up for auction is not from Anthro.

Second, if they didn't buy it from Anthropologie then it isn't from Anthropologie.  Some sellers will mention Anthropologie in the title but when you read the ad, they'll say they purchased it from a sample sale, warehouse sale, and that it is a brand that you would find at Anthropologie.  Most of the time they won't even mention the brand name.

Third, if they don't mention the brand, do not bid or purchase until you know what the brand is and where they purchased it.  Ask questions.

Fourth, if they say in their description it's a brand that you would find in Anthropologie, it means they did not purchase it at Anthropologie.  The seller is hoping you're not familiar enough with the brands carried by Anthro.

Fifth, do your homework, check the Anthropologie website, visit your local shop and get familiar with the brands they carry.

From my frequent visits, here is a list of brands you can find at Anthro.  This is by no means a complete list, but like I said, do your homework and you will do OK.

  • Maeve
  • Sleeping on Snow
