Pendulum divination is also known as dowsing, and it has been practiced since ancient times. It was a popular method of divination with the ancient Egyptians. Dowsing is not limited to searching for lost objects, water, and treasure-some people use it to diagnosis illness, predict weather, and obtain answers to a large range of questions. A pendulum is a communication device, which receives its answers from our higher self as well as from spirit guides. As a divination tool, it can be a wonderful source of guidance and inspiration. It can help us access the deeper layers of our subconscious as well as tap into helpful guidance from spirit guides. A pendulum helps to amplify both the internal and external energetic vibrations that surround us. It helps to access the vibrations that exist beyond our normal day-to-day consciousness.

When it comes to choosing a pendulum, approaches are as varied as the individual. The first thing to consider is what you are attracted to. Why do some of us prefer a room painted purple while another prefers earth tones? Look around at pendulums and see which design seems to suit your personality best. Do you find yourself drawn to a simple, naturally colored pendulum or something bright and sparkling? It is important that you find your pendulum attractive, otherwise you will not be inclined to bond with it easily. Look for a pendulum design that "speaks to you" and reflects your favorite shapes and colors. Chances are, you will be spending a lot of time using your pendulum and it is important that you feel a special connection with it.

The other thing to keep in mind is that the colors of the pendulum can also affect the energies that contribute to the power of your divination session. While all of my pendulums are cast for highest accuracy, they each have their own individual "personalities". These personalities are created by the colors, shapes, and designs of the pendulum. While they can all be used in the same way, they are all different and hold a different energetic vibration. For example, if you are looking to connect with outside entities and higher spirits, you should select a pendulum that contains all of the colors of the rainbow. If you are seeking connection with gray or darker entities (not recommended!), then an onyx colored pendulum may be the right one for you. Likewise, if you intend to focus most of your questions on money and material matters, then a green pendulum will help you stay focused in that energetic vibration. Color plays a very important role in energy work and balancing, so while all pendulums will offer divination, each one will be a little bit different. A session with one pendulum may feel more serious, whereas a session with another may feel more fun. This is due to the different energetic vibrations that each one carries.

Many people collect pendulums, since having a variety of different pendulums to work with makes the divination process more varied and stimulating. I collect pendulums myself, and I know that sometimes I feel inclined to work with certain pendulums depending on my mood. Some of my pendulums have a very stoic and serious feeling about them, and others are very lighthearted and whimsical in feeling. Some pendulums allow me to connect with higher level entities, where others seem to always connect with fairy type energies. Some pendulums seem more helpful in connecting with my own subconscious mind, where others are clearly affected from outside entities. You will also find that if one pendulum is being "grumpy" and not giving you clear answers, it can be helpful to switch to another pendulum for that session. Divination tools, since they each carry their own vibrations, are very much like any other haunted item. No two will ever be alike.

When selecting and collecting pendulums, intuition should be your primary guide. You will find yourself drawn to certain pendulums and not others. Go with your intuition and what you are attracted to. if you plan on using your pendulums often, you will want to have a selection that you can bond comfortably with.
