Ok, I know this will seem meaningless to most of you, but there is a reason we guys need to spend soooo much time on the computer (and it has NOTHING to do with what you're thinking)! We grow up in a very competitive atmosphere. We compete with our siblings for parental attention. We compete for recognition among our peers in school, and ultimately, we must compete with others on a worldly basis for a career, a home, a WIFE (or 2 or 3,heh heh), and just about everything else. Many of us choose sports as a way to compete. Most of us eventually run out of steam, and give up on the idea that we will ever be universally known for our skill. When that happens, we have few choices to make a name for ourselves in the atheletic arena. One of those choices is "Fantasy" sports.

A fantasy sports team is  simply a team we put together in our minds, on paper, on our computers, and in our hearts that shows all the other fantasy owners that we can build a better team than they can.

The fantasy system is set up by a fantasy league commissioner, who decides how many divisions a league will have, and how many teams each division will have. Then you "buy" a team, draft players from a roster built by the league, and play a schedule, just like real sports, against the other fantsy owners in your division. You manage your team just as if it was a real pro franchise. If one of your guys goes down to injury, or arrest, you must trade, buy, or replace by free agency that missing player. Each player has a fantasy value, and you gotta pay to sign him.

Then you play head to head against the other teams in your league, using the real players actual game stats to garner points. As an example, last week in the real NFL, my kicker kicked 6 field goals, so my fantasy kicker got 3 points for each of those, plus he got a 2 point bonus for being the high scorer, giving my fantasy kicker 20 points. My running backs got 22 and 17 points based on their real life counterparts stats, and so on down the roster.

I know girls like short stories, so I'll end this by saying, "Fantasy sports is a way for a man who can no longer compete on the field of battle to compete in his head, and in his heart, without getting hurt or hurting anyone else. It's also better than cleaning out the spouting, and an excellant excuse not to!
