If you are new to collecting Kliban cats, that wonderful funny black & white tabby cat with the red sneakers or the red kissy lips on the cheek from the 70's and early 80's, here is a simple guide to collecting the older original B.Kliban cat items. 

  All the newer items are marked JKliban or BKcats, his widow who started marketing Bernard Kliban's cat items on her own after his death in the 80's. 

**UPDATE*** Just this year Crazy Shirts of Hawaii has begun once again making the Kliban Cat sweatshirts and t-shirts, true collectors still like the older original Crazy Shirts Kliban stuff and they can tell which ones are the older ones and which are the newer ones and if I'm not mistaken, I think I can  speak for all the true hard core Kliban Cat collectors, we prefer and will take the older ones  over the new ones anytime! Am I right Kliban fans?

        JUST REMEMBER THESE SIMPLE STEPS FOR THE TRUE KLIBAN ORIGINALS:

  1. The items that were made by Bernard Kliban were marked BKliban not JKliban(his widow) NOT Bkcats.

 2.The original shirts & sweatshirts were made ONLY by Crazyshirts Hawaii(no longer makes them).Updated 2008, Crazy Shirts back in the making of Kliban Shirts.

 3.The cookie jars,candy jars,banks etc. were made by Sigma The Tastesetter(marked on item).

 4.The original coffee cups were made by Kilncraft England & have white base & white inside(not colored)

 5.The original tennis shoe cat bank is made by SigmaTasetter & made very nicely made & marked. The copy cat one is made in Tawain, big difference in look & quality.

 6.The older original calanders are in black & white not color.

     The most highly sought after original collectible pieces are:

 1. Cat hatching from egg also Cat and phonograph salt & pepper shakers.

 2. Mom & baby cookie jar. (Caution there is also a repro of this one but anyone can really tell the difference between the two if you look at them)

 3.Cat sitting in cowboy hat trinket box.

 4.Cat atop phonograph music box.

5. Cat in airplane teapot.

 6.Cat in spaceship teapot.

 7. Cat christmas tree ornaments,in stocking,ice skates,jumping through wreath,sitting atop chimney,in train,in car.
