This guide is intended to make some important points regarding the proliferation of "witch estate" jewelry at online auctions. I consider myself a witch, though not specifically in the Wiccan tradition, so I feel that I am qualified to speak on this subject. I have been wanting to write about this for awhile now, because I am very offended by the twisting and distorting of centuries of legitimate craft.
Running a search on Ebay under the term "haunted witch" brings up just under a thousand items, sometimes more, on any given day. Most of these items have similar stories attached. Usually, that someones aunt/sister/mother who was a witch passed away and left all of their jewelry to the seller. Most surprising is why it is assumed that the jewelry is haunted just because it belonged to a practitoner of magick. This brings me to the first and most crucial point of this guide, which is (and pardon me, but I feel the need to put this in very big, bold letters):
If you look at my buyer feedback you will see that I sometimes buy jewelery for myself on Ebay. In fact, I have a rather profound obsession with gigantic, unusual rings (as you can see from my photo). Well, I hope to all that is sacred that when I leave this mortal body I can find something better to do in the afterlife than to come back and HAUNT all of the jewelery in my collection!!! :) Yes, I love my jewelery and I am very attached to it, but I am not THAT attached to my jewelery that I am going to hang around it when I could be traversing the etheric realms. That said, in 30, 40, (hopefully 100 years) if you see an auction for gigantic rings haunted by the ghost of Meena Svara, they are LYING. :) In fact, the only thing that will be haunted is the seller of my jewelry....because if I leave a massive collection of my jewelery to a beloved relative and they hawk it all on Ebay for 99 cents, I am going to be furious.
Now, I'm not saying that spirits don't hang around and get into jewelery. They do. However, it is unlikely, especially with a practitoner of magick....that they will hang around in the jewelry they once owned. Jewelry tends to get haunted by elementals, vampire energies, trapped spirits that cannot move on, astral level entities, attachment energies, and residual energies. Most people do not haunt the jewelry that they once owned. If they did, then almost every antique piece of jewelry would be haunted. To give you an example, if you walk into an antique shop and there is a case of 500 items of jewelery....roughly 10-20 pieces could have some type of energy attached. That is a very small amount. It takes me a very long time to find jewelery items to add to my collections, that is why you will see me list only a few items every week. If a seller has hundreds and hundreds of pieces of haunted jewelry, I can guarantee you that it is 99% unlikely that they are genuine. The odds are just impossible.
Every material object in the world has a certain resonance or energy attached to it, but there is a difference between psychic impressions that are embedded in an object and an item that is "haunted". So, while all used jewelery essentially contains energetic impressions of their past owners, it is a rare object that has such a huge energetic impression that it can cause phenomenon.
Here is another misconception I would like to address regarding "witch estates". Just because it was owned by a witch does not mean it was spellcast. This bears repeating and bold letters:
This is another weird thing that I have noticed in the "witch estate" auctions. People seem to be creating the false impression that practitoners spellcast all of their personal jewelery. I have never heard of such a thing. First of all, when we cast, we are typically casting for other people. If we do cast for ourselves, it is rarely on copious amounts of items. I have known some mages, including Sheridan Paul, who used to cast large amounts of jewlery for gifting to others....but I have never heard of practitoners doing so much work on their personal items. I have a suspicion that this is just a story that people make up to explain why they have such huge amounts of spell cast jewelry. The other issue is, if someones aunt died and left behind hundreds of spell cast items, she would have had to have left notes on every single piece in order for the seller to know what type of spell was cast on the item. I don't know of any witch who leaves notes to herself on all of her personal jewelry. It sounds very unlikely, doesn't it?
Witch estate does not = haunted
Witch estate does not = spell cast
Witches do not leave behind heaps of jewelery that looks like it came from a jewelry catalog. If it was in the practitoners personal collection, the jewelry was obviously worn.
Believe me, no practitioner (or any spirit for that matter) is going to waste time hanging around a cheapskate KEY CHAIN!!!! Common sense, my friends. Common sense. It is invaluable. What boggles my mind into orbit is how on earth these sellers have hundreds (sometimes thousands) of positive feed backs. HUH? If I were smart (and had no conscience), I would quit wasting so much time writing guides and crafting and head on down to my local dollar store to buy some keychains and earrings. It certainly would save me a lot of time, money, and energy. But, there's that little thing called karma that gets in the way.
You will notice that I sometimes list my items under "Witch Estate". This is because I am a living practitoner and the items are from my estate. I am a living, breathing, practitoner of the craft and my items are all intentionally spell cast for my clients. I list under "witch estate" in an effort to reclaim what has been polluted by tall tales and falsehoods. If you want to buy from a witch, at least directly seek out one of us who is alive and practicing. Most of us who have emerged and made ourselves available to the public actually do this for a living. If you choose to support stories that are filled with untruths rather than those who legitimately work in accordance with the old ways, then the magick arts that have been practiced since the beginning of time will be lost forever ...and people like me and my sisters and brothers who offer legitimate services will go the way of the dinosaurs.
This is why I write these guides. It is important that the truth be told, lest real magick take a backseat to a pack of lies.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND THIS GUIDE INFORMATIVE OR INSIGHTFUL, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU VOTING "YES" BELOW!
