A FIVE MINUTE TUNE-UP TO SPEED UP YOUR FIREFOX BROWSER
Most of us are always wishing our computers were just a little faster. I for one refuse to buy new hardware every six months so I optimize the settings of my system and software to squeeze as much performance as possible while still maintaining a stable machine.
I have found Firefox to be a great browser that I prefer to IE in many ways. Here is a super simple way to significantly speed up your Firefox browser by changing a couple of preference settings .
As usual I’ll preface the instructions with a little CYA:
By changing the wrong settings you may hose up your Firefox browser.
If you aren’t scared off her we go:
1. Launch Firefox
2. Type about:config in the address field, hit enter. A list of preferences will appear.
We will now speed up you’re HTTP Pipelining:
3. Type : pipelining in the filter field. The pipelining preferences will be listed
4. Find .http.piplining double click to change the value to true
Find network.http.proxy.pipelining double click to change this value to true.
Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests change this value to 8
5. We will now change the maximum server connections.
Enter: max-connections into the filter.
Click on: network.http.max-connections, change the value to 96
Click on: network.http.max-connections-per-server change the value to 32.
6. Restart Firefox and chances are you will see the difference.
