There are many variations of NASCAR diecasts available today. In fact, there are so many offered that sometimes we even wonder who's actually not confused at times? One can often find their favorite driver's car with a unique/special or the standard driver's paint scheme ranging in costs of several hundred dollars. Why is this? Aren't they all the same? The answer is NO, they are not.

Realizing that this can become lengthy and confusing if we went into too much detail we thought to offer information that hopefully will be helpful to the NASCAR novice, new collectors and even those that are already knowledgable, for those we'll call it a refresher.

We will concentrate on the former 2 primary manufacturers of diecast product: Action Performance/RCCA and Team Caliber. Both produced excellent cars and are now owned and under the umbrella of the Motorsports Authentics company. Confused yet? It's simple, Motorsports Authentics now owns each company rendering the Action & Team Caliber specific pieces obsolete or what we can now safely call true COLLECTORS PIECES. All new pieces will be Motorsports Authentics.

So what's the difference in the former brands? Lets take a look at Action Performance/RCCA and the different types of diecasts they produce, keep in mind this is a guide and not all inclusive.

1. RCCA/Action Performance ELITE Individually numbered series includes arguably the finest diecast details produced, You will find yourself wondering that if I was able to put GAS in this piece it just might RUN. YES, they are that detailed. The series is very limited in production , includes Platinum, White Gold, ColorChrome, Metal, Brushed Metal and other finished product schemes. The price tag on these are often well over 100 bucks and range into the THOUSANDS, depending on the year , make , model, driver, etc...

2. RCCA/Action Performance Club cars, Bank cars (Yes, they hold money and have a key), Clear Window Cars AKA - CWC, Black Window Cars AKA - BWC, this includes the BANK Cars ie... CWB (Clear Window Bank) or BWB making sense? Not too hard right! Then you have the QVC cars, they are also Action Performance cars and often have high quality finishes, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Colorchrome etc... Hey, they're still an Action Performance piece and very nice ones at that.

Now we enter in that HOTO Action Performance piece which simply put means the Hood opens and you guessed it so does the trunk. So what if it says HO only? Well then you guessed it again the trunk does not open. Hint: If you see an Action Club car it is normally an HO piece. Although, they are often serialized pieces just like an ELITE so you can try to get that LOW PRODUCTION Number!!!

3. Action Performance Raced versions. These are limited edition pieces that are detailed to the Winning Driver's car as it sat in VICTORY Lane. Very Cool pieces.

4. Brookfield, Revell and Winners Circle pieces are what? YEP, they too are Action Performance pieces and YES, you will often find the same paint scheme on both an ELITE a Winners Circle piece and everything in between. Winners Circle pieces are often found at the WAL-MART that should help you to determine the value, not normally too high although, some older ones are worth a buck or two.

5. Keeping this as simple as possible a: RCCA/Action Performance/Motorsports Authentics ELITE Series diecast is where you'll spend more and if you possess the right one, it may just be worth some decent MONEY with the lowest end valued piece generally being the WINNERS CIRCLE series. Make Sense?

Now let's talk Team Caliber or is it Motorsports Authentics? Remember Umbrella. Just like Dasani water is owned by Coca Cola or is it PEPSI? Anyhow, it's that SIMPLE.

Team Caliber Owners Individually numbered Series, Not much different than the ELITE, although some will argue. If you ask us "fill er up" and the piece should be completing laps alongside the ELITE. YES, that detailed.

Team Caliber Preferred Gold, Preferred Nickel, or just a plain ole Preferred STANDARD finish, these pieces are of EXCELLENT Quality, many of the newer ones have individual serial numbers and hmmm, fairly certain they are all HOTO, you remember that one right!

Team Caliber Pit Stop series is a HO series, less expensive than the Preferred and the Owners and is still quite detailed for much less.

With all this in mind, remember, the Action & Team Caliber pieces are no longer produced so get what you can out there because now the values are certain to rise as collectible pieces. They're HISTORY!

Hopefully, this information has helped you in some small way to understand that YOU BET there is a difference. Some of these pieces are ready to hit the many backyard and bedroom racetracks while MANY OTHERS are often found proudly displayed somewhere out there in their very own unique setting for viewing purposes ONLY!!!

If you made it this far the WHITE FLAG is flying. We wanted to THANK YOU for taking the time to read this and if your not certain about a piece ASK, ASK and ASK there are MANY sellers here including ourselves that would be happy to try to answer your questions.
