A Buyers Guide to Selling Starbucks Cards
This is a guide written by a Starbucks Card Buyer for sellers to follow to ensure that their products are represented as accurately as possible. Accurate representation will ease the buying experience for your shoppers and reduce the number of questions you will need to answer during an auction.
#1 - Post pictures of the front and back of the card.
- This is an absolute must. You need to show them what they are buying.
- Additionally, many collectors do not only collect the pictures, but they collect the minor variations of the backs of these cards.
#2 - Honestly, state the cards condition.
- The condition of the card is very important to many collectors.
- State whether the PIN coating on the back has been scratched off or if it is damaged in any way. This is very important !
- State whether the card is scratched at all or warped in any way. Again, this is very important; pictures do not always do the best at showing this...
#3 - State the pertinent collector’s numbers on the back of the card.
- Most all collectors sort their cards by the numbering on the back of the card, so these numbers need to be stated.
- The pertinent numbers are the Series number, Card ID number, and copyright date.
- The Series number is the first four numbers of the long 16-digit card number on the back. It will start with a “60__”.
- The Card ID number will normally appear at the bottom of the card on the back. It may come in many forms or possibly not even be present. The common forms will start with a “J______”, “CAR-___”, “ASE-___”, “UKA-___”, “EME-___”, “CPA-___”, “HMU-___”, “LAE-___”, “MHM-___”, “NVI-___/___”, “ICM-___”, or “INM-___”. There may be others, and there will most definitely be more.
- Note: for Taiwan Starbucks cards, the Series number and Card ID number are one in the same. It is simply the first six-digits of the 12-digit card number on the cards reverse.
- The copyright date should be self-explanatory.
#4 - Clearly state from which country the card is.
- Again, this should be self-explanatory.
#5 - If there is a paper holder that the card was issued with, include it too.
- Many collectors not only collect the cards, but also the paper holders they come with. Having them together in a set will bring higher sales. But don’t mismatch them, collectors don’t like that !
Lastly have fun...
