If the bra fits, the bra will be comfortable. It is true that most women are walking around with the wrong size bra. I am a trained Lingerie Specialist. Here are a few things I have been told:

1. "All the pretty bras have underwires so I just take the wires out as soon as I get home".

2. "Where are those extensions that hook into the back? I don't need a new bra".

3. "This feels great, but the size must be wrong. I have always been a 34C, ever since high school!"
   (This from a woman that had given birth to and breast fed 6 children).

4. "I can't be a D cup, that's too big."

I could go on, but let's stop there and address these statements.  First, the bra was created by an Engineer.  If you alter any part of it, it will not fit the way it should and can.
Second, your breast measurement WILL CHANGE and will not be the same your whole life. Think about how many women over 60 have the same breast measurement they did at age 20 or 30. Any at all? 

The woman that wanted to cling to the notion that her breasts were 34C was actually the national average of 36B.  The last comment was made also by a woman that had difficulty accepting her true bra size.

Would you buy a size 7 shoe if the measurement says your foot is a size 9? No, because it would hurt and your foot would look squeezed and poochy.  In the same way, your clothes will look much better on you if the bra fits correctly.

• Your skin should never pooch over the top of your bra in the back or the front. 
  If your bra cuts into the flesh on your back it is too small~ go up one band size.
  If you are popping over the top of the cup, you need a bigger cup size. 
  
• If the gap between the front center of the bra and your breastbone is more than 1/2", it is also too small. Go up one band size. 
  Tip: Keep in mind that the Cup on a 34B is the same Cup as a 32C. 
  The cup on a 38B is the same as 36C.  Because there is a little variation with brands and styles, you may need to remember this when shopping.
• A proper fitting bra will stay put if you slide the straps off your shoulders.

Types/Styles ~ An underwire is meant to hold the shape of the breast.  Shaped cups with or without underwire are meant to do the same and do not add size. 
A padded bra adds to the cup size, but you buy it to the size you measure, not the size you want to show. 
A push up style will manipulate the breast into appearing rounder, fuller, without adding projection. 

Remember to measure in the lingerie department or at home each time. Some department stores & specialty stores have trained lingerie experts that can accurately measure you.

Hormone changes and Chocolate are big contributors to changes in bra sizes.

• The correct size bra is found with an accurate measurement first beneath your breast.  Take that number and add 5". That is your band size.
  Next measure over the fullest part of your breast, wearing a bit of support if you need to.  Subtract the 2 numbers. A difference of 1" = A cup. 2" = B cup 3"= C cup, etc. No difference is AA cup.  In between? That is why there is more than 1 hook.
