5 Ways to Make Golf More Active
Golf is a great sport for relaxation and fitness. However, with the use of caddies and golf carts, the fitness aspect of Golf quickly gets lost. Use the below tips to help get a Grade A workout every time you hit the links.
1. Walk and carry your own clubs: 18 holes of golf where you avoid the golf cart and carry your own clubs can burn up to 2000 calories. And because you’re resting in between you don’t feel as tired as you would if you burned those 2000 calories doing high intensity exercise.
2. Have Driving Contests for Pushups: When at the driving range with friends set up a contest that bets callisthenics instead of cash. You can do it for every drive or the winner of 5 drives or whatever. The losers have to do a certain number of pushups, situps, squats, lunges, or any other exercise. You can play for an hour and get a great cardio and muscle-building workout.
3. Pushup at the Putting Green: When practicing your putting skills punish yourself for every missed put by making yourself do pushups, situps, or crunches.
4. Punish over Par: Every hole that you are over par you have to do 5 pushups, situps, and squats for every stroke you are over par.
5. Play more Golf: Your wife might not like this one, but as long as you don’t let golf stress you out golf can be one of the best low impact workouts a person can get. Just make sure you carry your own clubs and leave the golf carts to the lazy players. Remember to stretch after as well.
