Fall is a great time for a declutter month.  Looking around me, I see totes and totes of interesting possessions that could just as well be in someone elses home.   The following 5 steps will help you  reach your goals to declutter.  My listings are mostly one of kind featuring a wide variety of home and garden or clothing and collectibles so organization is a challenge.

5 tips to Prepare for a Listing Bonanza:

1.  Label several totes:  Example  Sell on Ebay,  Donate,  Research. Label should a Due date to motivate you.  Due date  may be seasonal (spring, summer fall) or a specific date.

2. Set up a staging area.  A long 5 ft x 3 ft folding table will work well.  This allows enough space to sort several items.  I keep a note book listing each item and a brief description.  Use this notebook later to search similar items on ebay.  Start with a manageable amount of items, so the task can be completed before moving on.  If the item is in poor shape, discard it.  Don't waste time listing an item that has no life left.

3. Take one tote, or group of items at a time; Using a photo box with lights - Take multiple pictures as they are being put  into the storage tote.  Put a brief inventory list in the "to be sold" box.  This will aid in coordinating during the listing process.  Any additional listing details can be noted at this time (weight, dimensions)

4.  Items to be sold on ebay should be inspected and  prewrapped in tissue for a nice presentation. Choose a correct sized  box and weigh..  I put a sticky note on the item showing weight for reference later.    Consider using Gallon Size Ziplocs ( or a cheaper version is lightweight Baggies) to protect small items or clothing items.  They will stack nicely in a tote.

5.  Maintain an area for all inventory of active listings.

6.  Once all preliminary work and pictures are done; proceed with the listing process.

Good luck!
