This short guide discusses the use of the late model small block Chevrolet Engines in your Hot Rod or Vintage Projects.
We have been selling quite a few of these engine/trans conversions and have learned a great deal along the way. What follows is a brief list of things to consider.
Aquiring most if not all of the accessories you will need has been the most important part of the project as the COST can climb higher than the engine itself. You will want to make sure you get the Starter, Alternator, A/C compressor, P/S pump/ Mass Air Flow Meter, Brackets, Pulleys, Tensioners, nuts and bolts, Coils, and even the fuel pump and lines or connector ends. In essence a complete lift out assembly.
The second most important item is the ECM computer and the wiring harness. The most cost effective way we have found is to take the ECM and harness and have it reprogrammed and the harness rewired to fit your needs. You will end up with a very sanitary setup with only 4 to 6 wires to hook up to your pride and joy. There are several companies we recommend to address the wiring issues.
Bottom line, to get the biggest bang for your buck; make sure you get as much as possible with your purchase. You will save thousands down the road.
