I just recently purchased this item from Tek168. He is a seller from Hong Kong, and sold this for a very inexpensive price. I bought it on the 10th of June, and recieved it the 17th! Talk about FAST shipping! I have to admit, I was a bit reluctant to purchase it. I mean, can it really offer THAT much, for THAT little, for THAT price!!? Yes! I wrote this tutorial because I want to help other people learn this device. It is a wonderful product, and if you want to save $250 by not buying the more expensive brands, then please take the time to learn how this works. Once you understand, it will be easy:) The graphics are good, the touch screen works great, and for the price? You can't beat it!
Now, let's get down to business!
He says that it does not work with Windows Vista. However, I have found a way for it to work perfectly. This product is NOT user friendly when it comes to the syncronization of music on Vista. When I say user friendly, I simply mean it doesn't syncronize the way that it should..you have to do a little work. Fortunately, IT DOES WORK! It is a great product overall, and for the price, it's worth learning. So, I decided to help Tek168 by writing a guide to explain to English speaking people how to be happy with their purchase.
You do NOT need the software that came with it. That is most important. Well, atleast you don't need it to add music. I haven't added any other format beside music and pictures. The pictures sycronized easily with Windows Vista...but not the music.
So, here it goes..the BEST and lamest terms that I can explain it. Like I said, it isn't user friendly.
FIRST...open up MY COMPUTER, by double clicking on the folder, or any other way you can get to MY COMPUTER. This is the place where you see your C: drive, D: drive, etc. Once you have that open, Just like ANY other MP3 or MP4 device, you need to plug it into a USB port on your computer. So, make sure your connections are GOOD, and plug it in. If you plug into a USB port on your computer, and your computer doesn't detect that a "new device" has been found, then the port might be non working. TRY another USB port.
Your computer will now assign a NEW drive letter. Locate the drive that the MP4 is on. Then, find a song on your computer that you would like to copy to your new MP4. You can LITTERALLY drag the song to the drive letter with your mouse, and it will begin copying to the MP4. If that doesn't work, then you have the wrong letter, and need to find the right one:) Trial and error people! Just don't drag it to C: drive..that will just simply put it back where you most likely found it lol! (okay, I'm poking fun). You can also copy the song by right clicking on the song file, then left click...COPY. After that, right click on the MP4 drive, and left click PASTE. Just try ONE song at first, so you get the hang of it.
Now, Open the MP4 drive by double clicking it (just like you would open up your C drive). This product comes with two songs already loaded. The location of those songs are in the Audio/ALT folders. After double clicking the drive letter that your MP4 is on, Double click Audio, THEN double click the ALT folder. You will see Barbie girl mp3 in that folder (or whatever song that was preloaded). You need to cut and paste YOUR song into THAT folder. Voila! You have an MP4 player that now works with ease using Windows Vista! It is simply a matter of putting the music into the proper folder. This MP4 resembles the exact markings of a regular computer drive.
If you put a CD into your drive, you can click onto that drive, and view the contents of that CD (in most cases) right? If you want to view what is on your main computer, you would goto 'my computer' then C: drive (in most cases) right?
It is the SAME thing with this MP4 player. You can plug it into your USB port, then double click on the drive letter assigned, and see the contents. The nice thing about this player, is the fact that you can simply drag and drop your music to the drive letter, without ever opening it..and it will syncronize. After you are ALL done, just make sure you open the drive letter, and cut and copy ALL music to the ALT folder.
I tried to make this as simple as possible. For some, it will be easy, for others...they still won't understand. That is the nature of people and computers. However, if you have any questions, I will be happy to help. Sure, this should be more user friendly, but in all reality, it is a DARN good deal for the price you pay! Who could have such a wonderful touch and go product for LESS than $45 dollars...with shipping included!!!??? When I say touch and go, I mean after you load all of the contents;)
Good Luck to all, and happy MP3'ing~!
PS: I am from the U.S., I am not getting paid for my expertise, and I am not affilliated with the distributor. However, I think he is a nice man, and before I recieved my product, I wrote him 3 times. He emailed me back within a day all 3 times! I think this is honorable, and for that..I chose to help him. It must be hard to help people when most of them speak a completely different language.
