If you are a music lover - you may want to consider adding Gold CD's to your collection. The 24K gold used in the cd creates a smoother surface for the laser in your cd player to refract from. The sound on these cd's is absolutely incredible. The cd's themselves have become somewhat of a rarity for certain titles. There are several different sources, but the most popular are the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab cd's, or MFSL. They still manufature new titles, but the runs don't last long. Most of the gold cd's made are now out of pirnt, adding to their collectibilty. Some gold cd's go for hundreds of dollars. Go through your collection, you may want to cash in.
Then, there was DCC. I guess they are no longer around, but they made some great gold CD's. There are a few great ones. Metallica Ride The Lightning & Master of Puppets, Heart's Dreamboat Annie, and the 1st Van Halen release/ They are high quality and high dollar.
Some collectors want the outside sleeve to still be included on the DCC discs, and many people want the really cool lift cases that came with the MFSL, and I think with some of the DCC's. So, wheteher you are buying or selling look for or add as much detail to the listing as possible and be specific. The people buying are serious, and if you are a buyer you need to be too. It's your money - so try to get one that's in as good as condition as possible.
Here's to the music!
