Just wanted to pass on something that I found out while researching replacement vinyl windows for my house.
There are quite a number of suppliers on ebay offering great deals on replacement windows, and there is nothing wrong with what they are offering. However those of you who may be looking at buying replacement windows because of the new $1500 energy credit in the new stimulus package should be closely check out what you are buying, because not all windows will qualify for the credit.
The rules have changed. Just because the window is Energy Star compliant, does not mean it qualifies for the credit. To qualify the window must now have a 0.30 U-factor or better and 0.30 SHGC or better. There are alot of Energy Star compliant windows with a .31, .32, etc.. U factor...these will not qualify.
So do your homework and ask questions. Many vendors don't know that their windows no longer qualify for the Energy Credit.
