THIS GUIDE IS INTENDED TO INFORM ALL COIN BUYERS ABOUT THE GREAT FRAUD BEING PERPETRATED ON EBAY BY MANY SO-CALLED PROFESSIONAL COIN SELLERS:
2007 George Washington Presidential $1 Coin: RIM ERRORS???
First of all, everyone needs to understand that the so-called "upside down rim lettering" is NOT an error. This is best described as a Type II coin.
To prove the point, I'll sell you as many of these as you want for $2 each. 1 coin, 100 coins, 1,000 coins, 10,000 coins, it's up to you, as many as you want.
OK, why would I do that if these are really rare error coins? Because they are not errors nor are they rare. The US Mint, NGC and many Numismatic Magazines including "The Numismatist" have already declared these coins to be normal and expected. The US Mint does not wish to spend the time and the money needed to flip these coins off the conveyor to obverse up. So you should expect that about half these coins will go through the conveyor to the rim stamper obverse up and the other half reverse up. This is normal, natural and completely expected.
I have seen these coins selling for as much as $100 a piece. Folks, those of you who paid that kind of money to so-called reputable coin dealers...well, let's just say you've been ripped off and you should demand your money back. Fraud, deception and..well, let's be frank and call it theft; should not be tolerated in the numismatic community.
Folks, please remember rule #1 in Numismatics: Do your research and KNOW what you're buying, otherwise you are going to be ripped off!
