People, for the love of GOD, please DO NOT pay more for these cards than you pay for the shipping!!!
This year, in 2007 Allen & Ginter Baseball, Dick Perez "sketched" 30 different baseball players, signing his name on each one and writing "1/1" next to his name. Topps took the original 30 sketches that he actually drew and put them in special holders, called "rip cards" and then randomly distributed them through the entire production run of 2007 Allen & Ginter.
They also MASS produced the original sketches and put ONE card in each pack - these are NOT originals and Topps mistakenly left the "1/1" notation on the front of every card, thus many people are falling victim to a scam - paying large quantities of money for a card that is worth no more than a couple of dollars. The way you can tell the fake ones from the real ones is that the fake ones have a border around the card and the real ones do not have any border. The fake ones are also larger in size, but it's hard to tell this from a picture. Yes, there are true 1/1's out there, but the bulk of what is on ebay are the reprints that sellers are claiming are 1/1's because of this error by Topps and you can bet that the seller knows what they are doing is morally wrong, but just wants your money and doesn't really care how they get it. If the seller lists the card with a BIN of $30, $40, even $75 and you buy it, you've been had because the originals should sell somewhere in the $300-$2,000 range, depending on the player.
