The 2004 Peace Medal Nickel is now considered the KEY coin in the Westward Journey Nickel Series. This coin is the first in series of the new nickel program. It was only made for a few months in early 2004 and will never be made again. Following the Peace Nickel, the Westward Journey nickels include the 2004 Keelboat Nickel, th2 2005 Bison Nickel, and lastly the 2005 Ocean in View nickel. Each of these 4 nickel will never be produced again.
In addition to the Peace Nickel being the first in series, it was the first change to the nickel in 63 years, making this coins very sought after. Early on COINWORLD had reported a compression problem on P-MINT Peace medal coins, and 2 errors on the P-MINT coins.
All the above factors may be the reason you will see this coins value soar in years to come. Just take a look at your pocket change....you rarely see these coins in circulation.
Having this coin in unsearched rolls or boxes is going to be a collector's dream come true. The funny thing about this coin is here we are in 2006 and this coin came out in 2004, 2 years ago, but ask the average person if they know about the new nickels, the most common reply is ..... I think I heard something about that ! I love that answer as its proof to me that as this coin becomes more known to the public, the value is only going UP.
Enjoy your coin collecting!!!!!!!!
