When you tilt a 2003S proof cent the 3 seems to disapear. THAT BECAUSE OF A MINT ERROR When proof dies are created they sand blast the parts that are to be frosted with very fine sand and polish the part that gives the mirror finish. Well the 3 did not get sand blasted on the 2003S Proof so when you tilt the coin the 3 blends into the mirror finish and seem to disapear. All 2003S proof coins have this same error so do not pay extra for this error. Red book list this coin at $3.00 but if you shop around you can find this coin for less. Hope this helps.
