The Sizes of patterns in the past were far different than current measurements. I thought it might be helpful to have some size information from a 1918 McCall Catalog.

Here is a little more info about the McCall Pattern Company...
McCall began business in 1870, and though the founder died in 1884 the company flourished. In 1919 McCall was the first to print on the paper pattern pieces and include more complete instructions printed right on the pattern pieces. Later the Printo Gravure instruction sheet was added. In 1927 the envelopes changed with the addition of color illustrations. McCall added an "S" to their name in 1951 and went from McCall Patterns to McCall Patterns.
