PHOTOGRAPHS
It is important to have a good clear picture of the item. If you are selling a photograph, you should scan the photo instead of taking a picture. Scanners start at $80.00 I have had an VISIONEER and HP. HP handsdown is my favorite, it has the best software.
If people cannot clearly see what you are selling they are reluctant to bid on your item and will go on to someone's else auction. If a potential buyer has a hard time trying to see detail in the photo they might go bid on something else. The other problem with taking a picture of a photo is it does not look perfectly square. When you edit the photo you have to cut the important edges off to clean up picture.
EDITING PICUTRES
Most computers have an editing program. My HP scanner came with a photo-editing program. I love it. I paid about $80.00 for it (I just replaced my old scanner). You can zoom, brighten/ darken a photo, crop a photo and edit it to your needs.
NON-PHOTOGRAPHS
Before taking a photo, check your lighting and look for shadows. Adjust the item and the light so you have as little shadowing as possible. If you take a picture and you are not satisfied with it take a new one, it only takes a couple of minutes and is well worth it when you item sells for more money. Take pictures from many angles up close and from a close distance. You do not have to use all of them but, you can pick the best pictures to show off your item. The better the picture the more detail you will show and the more money you could make.
GALLERY
Using eBay's Gallery is a great way to get potential buyers to look at your item. I personally do not want to spend hours clicking on every item just to see what it looks like.
SHIPPING
Enter your shipping charges during the setup of your item. When potential buyers click on shipping fees it is easy for them to see the real shipping cost. Do not make them have to fish through your auction to find the shipping cost. They may get discouraged and go on to another item.
