Hi :) This guide will help you avoid fake GOD cards. It contains a list of simple things to look for in listings and cards you may have bought. Genuine Egyptain God cards are the hardest to find and the easiest to fake.
Follow these points as any ONE will indicate a fake card.
1. All Egyptian God cards are colour co-ordinated, back and front.
Obelisk is blue, Ra is yellow and Slifer is red. This is simple to fake, but some Ra cards are bright yellow, genuine are yellow/green and some Slifers are deep red, genuine are dark pink.
2. The back of the cards are blank with no logos.
This is a big excuse for fake sellers as it is very easy to copy a blank coloured card, therfore the backs of fakes are identical to genuine cards. Any bad feedback they received is normally replied with a reference to, 'Buyers not knowing the back is blank', covering up the real reason which is the fake signs on the front.
3. No God card has spelling mistakes.
If your card has a spelling mistake it is fake. This can be lettering or grammar. One of the most common is on Obelisk, the word 'winds' is spelt 'wibds'. The correct titles are Obelisk The Tormentor, The Winged Dragon Of Ra and Slifer The Sky Dragon.
4. No God card is 1st Edition.
If your card has '1st edition' under the picture, it is fake. First edition cards are produced in standard decks and booster decks. God cards where only released as promotional cards.
5. Genuine God cards were produced the same as regular cards.
All God cards have a matt (or dull) finish and should look and feel the same as any other Yugioh card. Fake cards have a high gloss (or polished) look and feel. The description box and title on fake cards will also have huge writing or fonts, this can easily be compared to any other genuine card you own. All fake God cards are the Ultra Rare Gold Lettered version or GB1 set. This is simply because they are easier to fake, the Secret rare versions are impossible to reproduce cheaply in quantity.
6. Sellers Statements.
Sellers of fake cards will make a huge effort to avoid negative feedbacks. One way is to let you know in huge writing, satisfaction guaranteed, money back no questions asked. THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL SELLERS AND SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT WITH FEEDBACK COMMENTS.
7. Rarity versions of God cards.
All god cards are holographic, a plain card is fake. The Ultra rare GB1 set from the Gameboy game also appears in Silver lettered versions. If the lettering on your God card is not embossed, (stamped into the card), then it is fake. Also the gold should not fade or split if you tilt the card in daylight, it should remain solid.
8. Low priced cards indicate low quality.
An estimate for pricing genuine God cards would start from £50.00+ Some individual cards sell for £20.00 each. Sellers with a set of 3 for £15.00 should be avoided.
9. More Sellers information.
Listings may have the following warning signs. Very small pictures. 'I bought these cards on holiday'. Little information on the cards (rarity, number, origin) at the same time lots about the seller. 'I know nothing about the cards and I am selling on behalf of my son', but has other cards accurately listed. Different pictures in Gallery and Listing description. 100% written all over the listing.
10. Common Sense Steps.
Always ask questions. Base your instinct on replies, NO REPLY, NO SALE !! Check feedback, ask other buyers of the same cards.
11. How can I tell if my God cards are 100% FAKE !!!!
This is a foolproof way to tell if you have a fake set of God cards. Hold one card edgeways in your hand, top edge up with the front of the card facing your other hand. Run your other thumb along the top of the card, treating it as if you are turning a page of a book. If the front panel starts to peel off, then the card is fake, if not try all four edges and see if it will catch.
Because fake cards are basically a piece of coloured card with a holographic panel stuck on, this method is trustworthy. ALL genuine Yugioh holographic cards are produced with a fusion method, this also explains the gold letters stamped into the card during the process, (See Point Number 7).
12. How can I guarantee buying a 100% GENUINE SET !!!
For Ultra rare GB1 sets there is no guarantee of success other than taking the seller's word. However if you do want a guarantee with a little more effort you should buy the Secret Rare versions.
These 3 Secret rare cards cannot be faked and are not a set, they have to be bought separately as they are promos. They also have a beautiful sparkling holographic effect
