12 Creative and Different Things

 To Do With Vintage Jewelry

Ideas from a long-time collector

as well as inspirations from customers!

1. Decorate a picture frame:
Old pins- especially rhinestone pieces- look fabulous on painted silver or gold wood frames. Affix with hot glue or E6000. An especially nice idea for pins with broken backs...don't throw them away!

2. Hang it in a window:
With some experimentation, many necklaces and other vintage pieces can make very cool sun-catchers.

3. Use instead of a bow on gift wrap:
Wrap with ribbon and pin on an old brooch as a centerpiece (or glue one with a broken back).

4. Use scatter pins on a lampshade:
A favorite idea from a customer, who used old bluebird scatter pins on a lampshade in her daughter's room!

5. Drape necklaces across the corner of a mirror:  Simple but beautiful with the right necklaces...especially long rhinestone pieces.

6. Pin a fabulous brooch on a handbag for instant panache:
I've done this many times, especially in Fall or Winter. Works best on tweedy purses. Never fails to elicit compliments!

7. Ditto for jeans.
Especially if there's a hole or stain to cover...best with a figural. Try a rhinestone butterfly.

8. Put a bracelet around a pretty vase:
Experiment with crystal vases with various "necks". This can look stunning!

9. Fill a crystal bowl with vintage rhinestone brooches for a spectacular accent on your dresser.

10. Decorate a mini-Christmas tree with vintage earrings (an especially great use for single earrings!).

11. Use a showy brooch on a curtain tie-back/sash.

12. Frame in a shadow box with antique photos: Best suited to antique brooches. Try mixing in beautiful old buttons. Very pretty!
