11. Dead Space - Have you been waiting for a scary game that will make you pee yourself? Well here it is with Dead Space;
one of EA's new IPs that is guaranteed to give you nightmares. Set on a
deserted spaceship (USG Ishimura) Isaac Clarke must find out why
thousands were killed while "planet cracking" and extracting a strange
alien artifact. While fighting off grotesque aliens known as
"Necromorphs" you'll be in for one hell of a ride. Using new
"dismemberment" technology you must use engineering tools as weapons
and battle your way back home. If you can try picking up the six
comics, graphic novel, and the animated film "Dead Space: Downfall".
My Score: 9.0/10 Also Available On: PS3, PC
12. Left 4 Dead - Have you ever wanted a zombie simulator? Well now you have one and it's all thanks to the guys behind Half-Life, Portal, and Team Fortress: Valve. Using an updated version of the Source Engine; L4D
has amazing visuals and over 150 different types of zombies. With super
zombies ranging from the massive Tank, Boomer, Smoker and more you'll
have plenty of fun in this four player co-op game. Take down hundreds
of zombies as they come after you and try not to be too afraid of the
dark.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3, PC
13. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe - A lot of people love MK and no one saw this coming. Now DC and MK fans can rejoice in this slick, fast, and super fun fighter. Play as all your favorite MK characters such as Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Liu-Kang, and Baraka, as well as your favorite DC
characters such as Batman, Superman, The Joker, Wonderwoman, and The
Flash. With over 25 fighters you're bound to find someone you'll love.
With fun online multiplayer and all new close, and freefall combat
there's plenty to scream about. Be sure to pick up the collector's
edition that includes special packaging, Making Of DVD, and more.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3
14. Skate 2 - Sure the first Skate
had it's flaws, but that doesn't change the fact that it revolutionized
skateboarding games with amazing visuals, huge open world, in depth
replay editing, and best of all, the flick-it stick. Using the right
analog stick to do tricks works great, and the online multiplayer if
super fun. If you're tired of the Tony Hawk games give Skate 2 a spin.
My Score: N/A Also Available On: PS3
15. Fable II - Yes, the first Fable had an amazing story and beautiful atmosphere, but Fable II changes
and adds to this experience. With the whole social part intact, you can
now marry, have children, and buy property. The combat system is
updated and revamped along with the magic. The story is deeper and more
involved, and best of all, the graphics are just stunning. If you love
action RPGs or were a Fable fan you'll be in love with this game. Be
sure to pick up the limited edition if you can as well.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: Xbox 360 Exclusive
16. Prince of Persia
- Yes, the Prince is back and as snarky as ever along with Princess
Elika. With the series totally revamped with a new art style, and a
whole "one button acrobatic system", you'll be swept into the huge open
world with plenty of things to do. Alongside all this is the new
revamped combat that is also one button, but is deeper than you'd
think. With sweeping cinematic camera angles the combat can be very
exciting and gruesome. Be sure to also pick up the collector's edition.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3, PC
17. Resident Evil 5 - Oh yeah, RE is back and well...ok maybe it's more like RE4.5, but RE5 uses some amazing new technology to tell it's creepy little tale. Everything is almost like RE4
except with some tweaks such as fast weapon switching, updated
graphics, a co-op mode, more weapons, a better story, and just more
everything. RE5 fixes problems with RE4 plus adds a few on it's own, but nothing can stop RE5's haunting cinematic presentation. If you can pick up the collector's edition which has a boat load of goddies.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3
18. Rock Band 2 - Well if you love music then you are definetely missing out here. RB2 has over 500 downloadable songs, over 80 on the disc, and the ability to import songs from RB1.
With enhanced multiplayer, better hardware, and some game play tweaks
every rhythm game fan needs to own this. Even with it's steep price
($190) everything penny is worth for every minute you spend strumming,
drumming, or singing your heart out with Rock Band 2.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3, Wii, PS2
19. Tomb Raider: Underworld - Everyone has their fantasies about Lara Croft ever since 1997 when TR1 was released. Fast foward to 2008 and you have one amazing game. TRU's
main attraction are the visuals and enhanced gameplay features. You can
now select your costumes and weapons before each level. Lara can climb
a wide variety of terrain, she is faster, and just overall better. With
clever puzzles, HUGE environments, and even deadlier traps you will be
very busy in this world. Having over 1,000 animations helps and there
is some meaty DLC now available for TRU. If you love TR or hated it I suggest giving TRU a try and I promise you'll love it.
My Score: 8.5/10 Also Available On: PS3, PC, PS2, Wii, DS
20. Fallout 3 - Wow. That is all I can say, but I'm sure that doesn't sell for you. Fallout 3 was created by the amazing minds behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion,
and they succeed to, once again, make a fantastic new world. Set in
post-apocolyptic Washington D.C. you are a person who escapes Vault 101
and must traverse the barren landscape and find your Dad. With the
great V.A.T.S. system, a whole slew of weapons, and just a superbly
amazing atmosphere it makes Fallout 3 one of the best RPGs ever made. Be sure to also pick up the collector's edition.
My Score: 9.0/10 Also Available One: PS3, PC
