When selling used, antique or vintage collectibles especially in the virtual world whether it's with an online auction or a store always look at the item your selling as if you were the buyer. What would you want to know?

Since your potential buyers can't actually see or handle the item, you have to be their eyes and hands. Pictures and words are all you have to peek your buyer's interest and keep their attention. Your descriptions shouldn't be too long or too brief but as accurate as possible.

1. Give your item a Title
   

2. Describe what the item is with enthusiasm but without over emphasizing.
   

3. Maker's name (if known)
    

4. Size
    

5. Provenance (if known)
   

6. Condition (very important) record every flaw you are able to see and feel even if it you end up wondering why you're listing the item. Your buyers appreciate HONESTY.

7. Good photo(s) that are not too big or small and as many as needed to view the item accurately.

8. In a seperate paragraph or area from your description state your accepted payment terms and other important policies with polite and readable print.
   

9. Weigh each item and use a shipping calculator in every auction so your buyers know in advance what to expect for shipping/handling costs with no surprises. 
   

10. Make your auction page pleasing to the eye but keep free of distractions for example too many movable .gif images.
