My Mouse Is Not For You!
A mouse is a mouse to some and to many people, a regular 3 button mouse that still uses a round hard ball for tracking is fine.
...but to others who uses a computer long hours of the day, every day of the week, we depend on a comfortable and dependable mouse. Aficianados like myself can spend up to fifty dollars or more to find one to their liking.
Currently my favorite mouse is the Logitech G3. I love this mouse and if I wasn't married and the fear to lose my manliness, I would snuggle with it like it was my teddy bear when I go to bed every night. I will not go into details why because this isn't a Logitech G3 review however you can Google it and check it out for yourself.
Not All Mouse Feet Are Built the Same
Ninety nine percent of mice out there has some kind of feet that have a sleek surface that can easily glide across your mousepad. However the percentages are almost reversed that all mouse "feet" are built the same. Eventually as time goes by, the feet will wear out and sometimes fall out. You can either replace them or protect them now with teflon mouse tape. That is a picture of my Logitech G3. As you can see at the above picture the mouse feet are huge, especially the bottom one! You can't tell but there is some wear on the pads. I better protect them now. Luckily there is a eBay seller that sells such a tape that caters to my needs.
Douglasgenejohnson sells 1" teflon mouse tape. 1" width is a perfect size for the G3's mouse pad. I went ahead and committed to buy and paid via Paypal. I received the teflon tape in five days time in a regular size envelope. The delivery time wasn't bad since he is 2 timezones over from where I live. The teflon tapes were "taped" to my invoice and came in perfect condition.
The yellow side is the backing and the brown side is the teflon tape. The teflon tape has a surface very similar to a football. You can see the small bumps shown on the middle picture above. It is 1" wide by 8 1/2" long as true as the auction states (as well as .045" thick-I'll take your word for it).
Cutting out the pieces were easy enough to do but separating the tape from the backing is a pain unless you have a very sharp knife.
The teflon tape is very adhesive which is a good thing since it will stay strong to the mouse feet and you shouldn't have to worry about it coming off.
Using the same knife, I was able to cut around the mouse feet. You don't have to do that. I could have just left it as a rectangle shape but I went for the cosmetic look. The result wasn't bad at all.
The surface still has a very slick surface and you can still feel the small bumps. Let's give it a test drive!
Conclusion
The teflon tape is amazing! Especially if you use a very rough mousepad like the Ratzpad GS, you will notice the difference on how much "smoother" your movements will be as you glide over the mousepad. In fact it is alot sleeker than the original mouse feet! I'm sure over time that the tape will wear out but that (1) 8 1/2" teflon tape should be cover enough for about 3-4 sets. I paid $1.90 at the time which is not a bad investment for to lengthen the life of your favorite mouse.Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The seller at the time has an excellent feedback which is a big plus for me as a buyer. He shipped quickly and communication was great. He shipped it in a timely matter and I received it in a timely matter. The teflon tape is superb. I could not be any happier with the results. If you don't believe me, you can see the many others who voices the same opinion on his feedback page. Give it a try..
