IN A NUTSHELL: Let The Other Guy Leave Feedback FIRST ALWAYS!
I recently purchased an item on eBay and promptly paid through PayPal.
Upon receiving the item, the rechargeable batteries were corroded and of course, the battery contacts were also corroded. The instruction manual was crumbling into small specks of white flakes.
I contacted the seller and informed him. He replied he didn't check the item out (?) and wasn't aware of the corrosion problem or paper problem. (He had opened the container and taken about a picture --- not aware .. come on!)
Any way, he asked what would make he should do ... I asked for Half of what I paid ... he replied he would refund Only the purchase price ...keeping the complete overpriced shipping charge but he stated I could keep the defective item..
I took the refund and left him a NEUTRAL stating "Item Defective ... Seller Refunded"
NEUTRAL of course means I wasn't Satisfied or Unhappy ....
..... BUT HE GOT MAD & LEFT ME A FLAMING COMMENT!
He used the phrases: STUPID JERK SCAM ARTIST KEEP ITEM
(Again, this is from a NEUTRAL comment I left him on a DEFECTIVE product!)
Now eBay rules will let those comments stand - the only things they remove are Profanity & Contact Information.
So I learned, whether you are Buying or Selling let the other person leave Feedback FIRST!
Yes, you will sometimes not receive Feedback at all ... even if you leave a Glowing Positive some buyers & sellers just won't leave you Feedback ... just consider it just part of the eBay way.
